Perspectives

When EGC attempted to write a statement in response to the murder of George Floyd we were not able to.  No words exist to express the anguish of heart pouring out from our bodies in cries, tears, and screams.  What one-pager can communicate the multitude of thoughts and exhortations from even one of our staff of color at this hour? To speak to a diverse church and community, where your conditioning determines whether you see “senseless riots” or inevitable uprisings, EGC must leverage the diversity of our voices and lenses as a missional Christ-centered community ourselves in order to embody the work that is required at this hour.  We will issue a series of 1st person reflections from our staff, in the hope that each person’s imago dei might be respected, that we might each speak to the part of the Body that we are nearest to, and that together as a team we might disrupt our common sin-cancer of white supremacy and our beloved church’s addiction to simple answers.
