Collective action communities
An invitation to shape a work in progress…
Imagine Christians in Greater Boston following BIPOC leaders and contributing to the shalom-building they are already doing in our communities. Imagine a multiracial community taking action together and learning redemptive ways of being that nurtures mutual liberation and a lifestyle of anti-racist action. Imagine Christians collaborating to build shalom and glory given to God.
This is RCCI’s prayer for our region. We are taking steps toward making this a reality by hosting collective action communities for white evangelicals. These communities aim to increase white people’s capacity to take anti-racist action and follow BIPOC leadership while supporting BIPOC-led justice initiatives.
This happens through opportunities to support BIPOC-led, equity-building initiatives as well as training, reflection, and fellowship. Our methodology has been shaped by our experiences nurturing action in white folks since 2019, as well as a systems-informed research project we undertook that involved community input from local leaders of various races.
RCCI’s collective action communities are open to white Christians who are cohort alumni or who have commensurate experience. As we learn how to nurture transformation by mobilizing white folks, we will also be laying a foundation for and discerning around supporting the launch of a multiracial collective action community, as BIPOC energy and leadership emerges.
