A New Chapter for EGC
Jeff Bass is retiring while Stacie Mickelson prepares to take the reins.
The Emmanuel Gospel Center (EGC) is committed to seeking the peace and prosperity of the city for the glory of God. We do our work with and through a passionate team that includes dedicated staff and board members, amazing ministry partners, generous donors, and faithful volunteers. With this in mind, I am pleased to tell you EGC's board of directors announces Jeffrey Bass’s decision to retire as the Executive Director, effective June 30, 2024.
The board and I share this news with mixed emotions, as we will miss Jeff’s presence and the wisdom he has brought to the work of this ministry. On behalf of EGC’s board of directors, I sincerely thank Jeff for his 37 years of dedicated leadership in this organization, which has been instrumental to the success and growth of EGC over the years. Jeff has been involved with EGC since 1987. He first joined the board of directors, spent a year as a volunteer consultant, joined the staff as assistant director in 1991, and in 1999 (25 years ago!), became the Executive Director.
Jeff Bass. Retiring as Executive Director effective June 30, 2024.
During Jeff’s tenure, EGC has experienced substantial growth, strong financial stability, and increased ministry capacity. We have enjoyed the fruit of his innovations, such as our annual fundraiser dinner, which has become a significant part of our funding and a well-known networking event for Christian leaders in the region. Under Jeff’s guidance, we have sharpened our ministry focus, built lasting relationships and diverse partnerships, initiated numerous significant ministry projects, moved our offices to Codman Square, and navigated the pandemic. Jeff’s impact will last well beyond his retirement.
Jeff is praying about what is next for him, and he is excited about what this new season may bring. Please join me in thanking him for his leadership and wishing him well on his retirement.
A New Chapter for EGC
Over the last year, we conducted an organizational assessment and subsequent search for Jeff’s successor. Now, with great joy and confidence, the board of directors is pleased to announce Stacie Mickelson as EGC’s new Executive Director, effective July 1, 2024.
Stacie Mickelson. EGC Executive Director effective July 1, 2024.
Stacie has worked at EGC since 2013, starting out as an associate, assisting the Executive Director, and becoming the Director of Gender Initiatives a year later. For the last ten years, Stacie has been growing as a key executive leader at EGC, serving as the Director of Research and Consulting. And for the last two years, Stacie has served with Jeff and Rev. Devon McCarley on the staff Leadership Team. Stacie has launched new research projects at EGC, secured pivotal grants, and overseen most of our recent programmatic work. Although Stacie will be taking on a new role, she already comes with a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to EGC’s mission and values.
Please join me in welcoming Stacie as our next Executive Director. While there is no way to avoid the impact of Jeff’s absence, we appreciate his foresight to cultivate new leadership, and we are confident Stacie’s leadership will build on the positive legacy of her predecessor. While this transition is significant for us, we believe it will make room for new ways to empower Christian leaders in Boston to seek the shalom of the city.
We are excited and expectant for God to do great things in our future, and appreciate your continued prayers, partnership, and support.
Sincerely,
Crystal Dixon
Chair of the Board
